A huge welcome to our Volunteers!

The volunteers at FRASAC are core to the running services. Volunteering with us gives them the opportunity to be part of a service that provides support to the survivors of sexual abuse in Fife. We have just trained 10 new volunteers and 7 of them are joining us this week in the centre.

All volunteers joining us have successfully completed a 7-week course delivered in-house by team leaders and the project worker and covered topics of:

  • Gender-based violence
  • Inclusion and working with men and boys
  • Childhood sexual abuse
  • Support skills
  • Ritual abuse and DID
  • Legal systems

During this time our volunteers have learnt about FRASAC and the work we do within Fife. This increase in volunteers from 11 to 21 will enable our waiting list to decrease and more support to be provided to survivors. Volunteers give up this time every week without financial gain and are truly caring and passionate individuals who wish to help. This is a significant benefit to FRASAC and the survivors we have coming for our services. Not only do we provide services during the day but we also offer evening sessions for those survivors who may have a 9-5 job so we can accommodate them too. This means our client load can be greater as we can have 5 volunteers in the evenings, so we see over 40 clients per week now. We also take on student counsellors as well as practitioners and qualified counsellors and, in this cohort, welcomed another male volunteer. We continue to welcome and encourage volunteers from all genders and different paths of learning and help them achieve what they need.

At the moment we have full capacity for volunteers but if it is something you’d be interested in for the future, please contact us at info@frasac.org.uk and our Volunteer project worker Shola will be in touch.
